RETAIL WHOLESALE UNION RETIRED MEMBERS ASSOCIATION

HELD:  September 15, 2015

AT:  Church of St. Mary the Virgin, New Westminster BC

 The meeting was called to order at 10:05 am with Brother Shawn Lakusta in the Chair.

 MINUTES of the previous meeting were read by Brother Don Gardner and adopted.

 STAFF REPORT:

Brother Shawn Lakusta gave the staff report.

  • Thanks to Frank Allison for setting up the room. 
  • Viceroy Homes – The new owner re-opened the business, and recalled the employees back to work.  12 employees, including the plant chair, are now working.
  • Produce Terminal – Managed to roll over the collective agreement for 2 years, and bargaining will begin next year. 
  • Lucerne Milk Plant - The employees are now Teamsters members, and the Union stays in contact with them.  A complaint has been filed with the Human Rights Tribunal against the Trustees of the Retail Wholesale Union Pension Plan.
  • BC West - Frank Allison is successful in organizing, adding about 20 new members to the Union.

 NEW BUSINESS:

  • The golf tournament will be held this coming Friday, September 18.
  •  The Grain Workers Union is now affiliated with the Longshore Union.

OLD BUSINESS: none.
